Man struck by gunfire after trying to break up fight on southwest side, SAPD says

The man was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was struck by gunfire after trying to break up a fight in a southwest-side neighborhood early Saturday morning, San Antonio police say. 

Officers were called to the 100 block of Whitewood Street around 1:30 a.m. for a reported shooting in progress. 

Police said a 64-year-old man had intervened when two other men got into a physical fight. The man was then struck by gunfire when one of the men involved in the fight pulled out a gun. The two men fled the scene before officers arrived. 

The man was taken to the hospital in stable condition. 

San Antonio police are investigating.
