MAP: Overnight power outages as heavy rain arrives to San Antonio

More than 3,700 CPS Energy customers were without power around 12:30 a.m. as downpours and lightning arrived.

SAN ANTONIO — Heavy, widespread rains have arrived in San Antonio, bringing a flooding threat that lasts overnight and most of the day Friday in the region.

The National Weather Service implemented a Flood Watch expecting to remain in place until 9 p.m. Friday. Some areas of the metro could see upwards of five inches of rain as the week ends on a soggy note.

The rain is also bringing a potential for severe storms and lightning. As of 12:30 a.m. Friday, more than 3,700 CPS Energy households and businesses found themselves without power. The utility said earlier in the day that crews were “prepared to respond to any reports of downed power lines and outages.”
