Are roads closed in Bexar County amid flooding threat? Here’s how to check

A Flood Watch now in effect is expected to last all the way until 9 p.m. Friday. Some Bexar County roads could close due to high water.

SAN ANTONIO — With another prolonged round of heavy rain expected in Bexar County, it’s once again important to remember to pay attention to water levels on the road and pay heed to barricades that may be set up.

Heavy rain arrived to San Antonio around 11 p.m. Thursday, shortly after a Flood Watch went into effect for much of the region, including the Hill Country and counties to the west. Widespread downpours are expected to continue throughout the day, affecting the Friday morning commute and creating conditions for a potential mess on the roads.

The National Weather Service is reminding drivers not to chance it if they come across a roadway that appears to be flooded over; if you’re able, always turn around and find a detour in these situations.
