Married couple experiences road trips, playoffs and decades of loyalty to the Spurs

A local married couple has turned their Spurs fandom into a lifetime tradition.

SAN ANTONIO — Adrian Vallejo and Sylvia Urias-Vallejo rarely miss a game, traveling across the country, from Las Vegas to New Orleans, to watch their team play. Their shared passion for the Spurs has been a constant throughout their 22-year marriage.

“We’ve been going for years,” he said. “Once you went to a game, you wanted to go again and again.”

Urias-Vallejo’s connection to the team dates back even further. She said she began attending games at Hemisfair in 1978 and has been a season ticket holder for 27 consecutive years.

“I have been a loyal fan to the Spurs,” she said.

Over the years, the couple has attended numerous playoff games, making memories together in the stands. But they say the 2026 postseason carries a different energy.

“It just feels a lot different,” Adrian said.

“You just don’t see this level of energy,” Sylvia added. “I don’t recall it ever being like this. And it is everywhere; you don’t even have to be at the game.”

Their fandom is easy to spot. From custom, bedazzled basketball shoes to bright orange playoff shirts, the couple proudly displays their Spurs spirit.

“It’s just pride in being from your hometown,” he said. “They’ve always been an exciting team since day one.”

“And their loyalty to San Antonio, I feel like we owe it to them,” she said.

As the Spurs chase another championship, the couple believes this could be a special season.

“I do,” Sylvia Urias-Vallejo said when asked if this could be the year. “I think they have it in them.”

For now, they plan to keep cheering as long as they can.

“Go Spurs Go,” they said.
