Now that Houston beat Cleveland, who do they play next?

The Texans are the No. 4 seed and could play any team left in the AFC playoffs other than Pittsburgh.

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans knocked off Cleveland, 45-14, to move on to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.

But who will Houston play? Right now, it’s wide open.

According to CBS News, in the divisional round, the No. 1 seed — Baltimore —  plays the lowest seed left. Because the Texans’ game against the Browns was the first playoff game, there are still a few scenarios for their next opponent. One of those scenarios would have them playing at NRG Stadium.

Miami will play at Houston if…

We’ll start with that one. Houston could play Miami at NRG Stadium next weekend because the Texans are the higher seed. For that to happen, Miami would need to beat Kansas City and Pittsburgh would need to beat Buffalo. If that happened, Houston would be the second-highest seed left.

Houston will play at Kansas City if…

They could also face the Chiefs if KC beats Miami, but that game would be at Arrowhead Stadium since Kansas City is a higher seed than Houston.  For that to happen, Buffalo would also need to lose to Pittsburgh.

Houston will play at Buffalo if…

For Houston to play the Bills, Buffalo would have to beat Pittsburgh and Miami would have to beat Kansas City. A Texans-Bills game would be in Buffalo.

Houston will play at Baltimore if…

And the scenario for Houston to play the No. 1 seed Baltimore Ravens?  For that to happen, Buffalo would have to beat Pittsburgh and Kansas City would need to beat Miami. That would make Houston the lowest seed left. Of course, that game, too, would be in Baltimore.

The only team the Texans don’t have a chance of playing is the Steelers. That’s because Pittsburgh is the lowest seed and if they make it past Buffalo, they’ll face Baltimore.

We won’t find out for sure who Houston plays until after Monday’s Steelers-Bills game.
