Panthers owner David Tepper throws drink at Jaguars fan during blowout loss

The Carolina Panthers owner was visibly upset during his team’s 26-0 loss.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — David Tepper’s tumultuous tenure as owner of the Carolina Panthers took another ugly turn Sunday when he was spotted throwing a drink at a Jacksonville Jaguars fan during the team’s shutout loss.

The team’s owner was visibly upset after watching rookie quarterback Bryce Young throw a fourth quarter interception that virtually sealed the Panthers’ first shutout in 342 games or 21 years. During his tirade, Tepper threw a drink at Jacksonville fans in the stands from a suite.

Carolina lost Sunday’s game 26-0. It’s the first shutout the Panthers have suffered since Week 7 of 2002. The Panthers locked up the NFL’s worst record with the loss.

The viewer who took the video told WCNC Charlotte Jaguars security asked them to send her the video. The Panthers declined to comment on the incident.

The NFL told WCNC Charlotte they are aware of the video and have not released any further comment.

It’s unknown at this time what prompted his action.

The Panthers are going through one of the worst seasons in team history with a 2-14 record. The team traded its pick in next year’s draft, which would have been the No. 1 pick, to select Bryce Young with the first pick in this year’s draft. Young has shown small bits of promise but has mostly been inadequate due to an inefficient offensive line and a lack of weapons.
