Pedestrian killed crossing I-35 on southwest side, police say

A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the main lanes of Interstate 35 near South Laredo Street, police said.

SAN ANTONIO — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Interstate 35 on the southwest side early Sunday morning, according to police.

The San Antonio Police Department says officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to Interstate 35 South near South Laredo Street for a major accident involving a pedestrian.

Investigators say the pedestrian was crossing the main lanes of the highway when they were hit by a vehicle.

The driver remained at the scene and assisted officers throughout the investigation, police said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim, who was described only as a Hispanic woman.

The investigation remains ongoing.
