Pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries in west-side hit-and-run

Police are searching for the driver who fled after striking a man in a marked crosswalk.

SAN ANTONIO — A pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on the west side of San Antonio, according to police.

The San Antonio Police Department says officers were called around 8:49 p.m. Saturday to the 600 block of South Zarzamora Street for a major accident involving a pedestrian.

Investigators say the man was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk from east to west when he was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound.

Police say the driver did not stop to render aid and instead fled the scene.

The victim, identified only as an adult Black man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made, and authorities have not released a description of the vehicle involved.

The investigation remains ongoing.
