Man hospitalized after knife injury during altercation on west side

A man was hospitalized after being cut during an altercation on the west-side. Police say the other person involved claimed they acted out of fear.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was hospitalized after suffering a knife wound during an altercation on the west side of town early Sunday morning, according to police.

The San Antonio Police Department says officers responded around 4:09 a.m. to the 5300 block of Cervantes near Culebra for a reported cutting in progress.

Investigators say a 42-year-old man was walking home with another person when he allegedly became aggressive.

According to police, the man knocked the other person to the ground and got on top of them during the confrontation.

Authorities say the person on the ground, fearing for their safety, pulled out a knife and attempted to get the man away. During the struggle, the man was cut in the upper body.

The injured man was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made as detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case remains under investigation.
