LIVE OAK, Texas — A fast-growing sport is getting a major new home in San Antonio.
The Picklr Live Oak is set to celebrate its grand opening on May 16, bringing a state-of-the-art indoor pickleball facility to the city’s northeast side.
Located off Loop 1604 near Lookout Road, the new venue features 14 indoor courts, including an ADA-accessible championship court designed for high-level competition and wheelchair accessibility.
Organizers say the facility is more than just a place to play, it’s built to put San Antonio on the map for major pickleball events.
The Picklr plans to host tournaments tied to the Professional Pickleball Association, Major League Pickleball and the Army Warrior Games, along with local competitions through the Texas Amateur Pickleball Association.
The opening ceremony is scheduled on Saturday, May 16, from 10 to 11 a.m., with community members and local leaders invited to take part.
Supporters say pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and could even become an Olympic sport one day.
For San Antonio players, the new facility offers a place to rally, compete and grow the game.
