Pilot dead, home damaged following Pasco County plane crash

Pasco County officials responded to a plane crash early Sunday morning in Land O’ Lakes.

LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. — A pilot is dead following a plane crash early Sunday morning in Pasco County.

Pasco County Fire Rescue says this happened in the Grand Oaks neighborhood of Land O’ Lakes, near Aldus Drive.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) say that a Cessna C402 aircraft crashed into the yard around 8:30 a.m. into a home’s yard.

The FAA confirms only the pilot was on board and died from the crash. They departed from Tampa North Aero Park.

Officials confirmed that the fire caused by the crash has been extinguished, and a home received some damage.

Footage from Christina Galbiati, a neighbor in the area, shared ring camera footage showing smoke coming from the home following the crash.

Galbiati tells 10 Tampa Bay News that she first saw the plane flying fine until she noticed it getting closer to the neighbor’s yard.

“My kids were in the back screaming,” she said. “I was very taken aback, very tragic.”

PCFR confirmed one person died following the crash.

The FAA and the NTSB are leading the investigation.
