SAN ANTONIO — A runaway donkey spotted last week on a San Antonio highway had escaped rescue from a lake earlier the same day, Live Oak police said.

An officer from SAPD’s north patrol said the donkey was spotted by several drivers and made it all the way to Holbrooke and Eisenhower. At some point, the animal went into the woods at Salado Creek.

Monday, Live Oak Police Department posted on their Facebook a little more about the wayward donkey’s journey that day. The donkey was first spotted around Narrow Pass & Toepperwein at 11 a.m. Officers chased the animal through

Later, before the highway video was taken, Animal Control had spotted the donkey swimming in the lake at Main City Park. The donkey was rescued and tied up with a clamp, but managed to escape, taking the clamp with it.
