SAFD: Family escapes west side house fire with no injuries

Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze, but the back of the home suffered heavy damage.

SAN ANTONIO — A family is safe after a house fire caused significant damage to a home on San Antonio’s west side early Wednesday morning, according to fire officials.

The San Antonio Fire Department says crews were called around 2:22 a.m. to a home in the 1000 block of Harbour Grey.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the residence.

Officials say everyone inside made it out safely before crews arrived.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control, but not before the rear portion of the home sustained severe damage.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Fire investigators were called to the scene to determine how the blaze started.

The San Antonio Police Department also responded.
