The annual San Antonio Martin Luther King Jr. march will press on despite the strong cold front heading to Texas on Monday, January 15. Organizers of the march encourage participants to take care and follow appropriate guidelines.
“Although the weather forecast predicts one of the coldest days in our city, we are determined to press on, just as King and other heroes and sheroes did,” Dwayne Robinson, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. commission chair, stated in a release on Thursday, January 11.
San Antonio’s MLK March, in its 37th year, is touted by organizers as the nation’s largest. The march’s lineup will be at 9 a.m. and will start at 10 a.m. The march’s starting point is Martin Luther King Jr. Academy, 3501 Martin Luther King Dr., 78203.
After the march, there will be a park celebration at Pittman-Sullivan Park. There will be information booths, a youth area, food and merchandise vendors, a health and wellness area, and a main stage with multicultural performances.
