Man dead after being shot by SWAT officers outside south-side apartment complex, SAPD says

A wanted man is now dead after a shooting with SWAT officers outside a south-side apartment complex, SAPD confirmed.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department said a 30-year-old man is dead after being shot by SWAT officers on the south side.

Around 8:30 p.m., officials responded to the 200 block of West Dickson Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting.

Preliminary reports from SAPD suggests the suspect was wanted on several warrants and was known to be armed and dangerous.

Upon arrival, SWAT officers exited their vehicles and deployed a devise to try and apprehend the suspect.

The man then allegedly ran before pulling out a firearm and shooting towards the officers.

SAPD said the SWAT officers returned fire, fatally striking the suspect.

Two of the four officers’ bullets struck allegedly struck the suspect, both being 14 year veterans of the unit.

This is an ongoing investigation.
