San Antonio steakhouse closing its doors after more than 70 years, final day of service set for Mother’s Day

Local said since opening its doors in 1953, The Barn Door has been known for its steaks, warm hospitality and for being a pillar in the San Antonio dining scene.

SAN ANTONIO — A treasured north-side restaurant is closing its doors after serving generations of families in the Alamo City – for more than 70 years! 

The Barn Door Restaurant & Meat Market will be having its final day of service on Mother’s Day from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The beloved steakhouse already moved to a limited, reservation-only schedule and hours will be Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Reservations can be made by clicking here. 

“This is not an easy decision. For more than 70 years, The Barn Door has been a place where people came together to celebrate life’s milestones, share meals, and create memories. It has truly been the privilege of a lifetime to serve this community,” Randy Stokes, co-owner of The Barn Door said in a statement. “We are incredibly grateful to our staff, past and present, whose dedication and heart made this place so special. And to our guests—thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives for so many years.”

The owners, Randy and Darcie, are inviting the public to stop by the restaurant during its remaining days to eat and celebrate the decades of memories made at The Barn Door.
