Santikos CEO Tim Handren retiring after nearly six years, the company says

Since taking over in 2018, Handren helped the San Antonio-based movie theater company expand to have the eighth most number of screens in the country.

SAN ANTONIO — After nearly six years with the company, Santikos has confirmed that CEO Tim Handren is retiring.

When Handren took over in 2018, there were big plans for expansion and growth, which was ultimately halted due to a pandemic and writers strike. After getting past those obstacles, in 2023, Santikos was able to finally get an agreement signed to expand to seven more states and more than doubled the amount of theaters they already had.

During his time with Santikos, Handren also served as mayor of Boerne from 2019 to 2023.

No word yet on his replacement but more details are on the way. KENS 5 will update this story as more information becomes available.
