SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio Police officer was rushed to the hospital after he was shot during a traffic stop and police are still searching the man accused of shooting that officer.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Marbach Road and northwest Loop 410.
According to Police Chief William McManus two officers pulled over a driver suspected of drunk driving. When the officer approached the car the passenger in that car started shooting.
McManus said “the officer on the passenger side was hit and went down.” He said the officer was shot twice and rushed to the hospital and sent to surgery.
McManus said the accused shooter got out of the car and the passenger jumped into the driver seat before taking off.
Officials say the found the car a while later but no sign of the suspect.
The officer who was struck has been serving in the department for six years, according to SAPD.
