Second blast reported near where three were injured in earlier north-side house explosion

The first incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday in the 15000 block of Preston Hollow Drive.

SAN ANTONIO — A second blast has been reported on the same street as an earlier house explosion that injured three people.

The first explosion and subsequent fire at a north-side house left two adults and one child injured, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

That incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday in the 15000 block of Preston Hollow Drive.

The fire was extinguished very quickly, a department spokesperson said.

The explosion may have been caused by a buildup of natural gas, the spokesperson said, but that determination is preliminary at this point.

All three injured people were transported to a hospital. There was no immediate word on their condition.

A spokesperson said the home sustained significant damage and likely will be demolished.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday, a second blast was heard, and flames soon were seen shooting into the sky from another home.

A KENS 5 crew in the area heard the blast was not close enough to the location to confirm further details.
