SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio fire fighters responded to a house fire on the city’s northside Saturday afternoon.
According to officials fire crews received a call about a structure fire around 11:00 a.m. on Woodcrest Drive.
The homeowner apparently had several animals including at least three dogs, three birds, two tortoises and an iguana.
Officials said the birds have died.
Animal Care Services are still trying to locate one of the tortoises.
The rest of the animals have been found and are safe, officials said.
According to officials the home sustained fire damage to multiple rooms, floors and the attic but is not a total loss.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
