Sheriff: Three children among five shot in ‘targeted’ attack on northeast-side home; one person has died

Authorities are now looking for two suspects believed to have opened fire on the home Wednesday evening.

SAN ANTONIO — One person has died and four others have been hospitalized with serious injuries, including three young children, after a northeast-side shooting that officials called a “targeted attack” carried out by two suspects now on the run.

The youngest victims are 4, 7 and 8 years old, according to Sheriff Javier Salazar, who said the gunfire unfolded at about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 6700 block of Windsor Hollow Drive. He categorized several of the victims’ injuries as “grave.”

“It’s quite possible some young children may lose their lives here,” Salazar said.

According to the sheriff, two suspects are believed to have driven to the home and getting as close as 10 or 15 feet before shooting into the residence with long rifles. It’s estimated they shot 20 to 25 times.

Salazar said the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has evidence suggesting the unidentified suspects knew there were children in the residence when they opened fire. They’re now investigating potential leads on the gunmen.

None of the victims, who were taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, have been identified as of yet. At least some are believed to be related.

This is a developing story.
