The Dixie Flag Company says car flags are the hot ticket item right now.
SAN ANTONIO — For weeks and months, Spurs merchandise has been flying off the shelves. So fast in fact that many places are running out of stock. At one of those locations, Spurs merch has sold faster than you can say “raining threes.”
The Dixie Flag Company says this is typically their sweet spot time of year for anything red, white and blue. But because the Spurs are doing so well, they say this is also their sweet spot for anything silver and black. Vanessa Van De Putte, the President and CEO of the Dixie Flag Company told us, “The whole city is excited. And we can tell because people are phoning in. They’re walking in. Everyone’s looking to get a flag or something to help support the San Antonio Spurs.”
So fast, that they keep selling out of their most popular item, car flags! Van de Putte added, “They’re asking for car flags. We just got more in and we’re actually taking preorders for them because we can’t really keep up.”
Van de Putte says the honking brings back childhood memories. So she gets it. “We’ve got a lot of people specifically coming in and saying, they need a flag for downtown, for the back of the truck, for my car window flag,” she told us.
But since it is also America’s 250th birthday this year, you can honk for that too! They’re also selling a slew of Old Glory. Van de Putte told us, “With it being America’s 250 this year, that is also a popular item. So we’ve got some America 250 flags, as well. And we’re seeing a lot of people showing interest and in getting that merchandise as well.”
