Reason: Widespread rain is expected on Friday with chance for localized flooding.

The breakdown

A strong spring cold front is generating an active weather pattern that will continue through Friday. 

South-Central Texas is expected to experience a late spring cold front, which will spark some strong to severe storms and locally heavy rain that could lead to flooding.

Wednesday night brought severe storms to counties west of San Antonio, generating hail and gusty winds. And the rain will continue through Thursday and Friday with the possibility of flooding in certain areas.

Thursday morning brings a 40% chance of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms until the afternoon when conditions are expected to improve.

But another round of storms should arrive late Thursday into Friday morning—bringing additional rounds of heavy rain, which could cause localized flooding.

The storm system is expected to move along east by Friday evening with cooler temperatures and a sunny weekend ahead.
