Student stabbed by another inside IDEA academy classroom, police say

According to authorities, the cut was superficial and the student was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SAN ANTONIO — A student was stabbed by another student inside a classroom Friday morning, police say. 

Police responded to a call about a stabbing at IDEA Carver Academy around 9:00 a.m., on Robinson Place. 

Police say during class a male juvenile student got up from his seat walked over to another male student and cut his throat with a sharp object. 

The cut was superficial and the student was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, authorities say. 

According to police, the altercation was immediately stopped by the teacher. 

The other male student was detained by police, authorities say. 

No other injuries were reported. 

Police say parents were notified of the incident. 

Authorities say the school was put on a HOLD alert which has since been lifted. 

This is an ongoing police investigation. 

No other information was provided.
