Suspect arrested after downtown New Braunfels shooting injures 3

Police say two victims were targeted after a fight, while a third was an innocent bystander.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — A late-night shooting in downtown New Braunfels left three people injured and ended with a suspect in custody.

According to the New Braunfels Police Department, officers were called around 12:45 a.m. Sunday to the 100 block of North Seguin Avenue after reports of multiple gunshots.

When officers arrived, they found two men and one woman suffering from gunshot wounds and began providing aid until EMS arrived.

A 25-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were taken to a hospital in Kyle, while a 27-year-old man was transported to a San Antonio hospital. All three are expected to recover.

Investigators say the shooting followed a physical altercation involving the two male victims. Police believe the suspect later got into a vehicle, found the men walking downtown and fired multiple shots before driving away.

Authorities say the woman was not involved in the earlier dispute and appears to have been an unintended victim.

Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Josiah Anthony Arevalo, who later turned himself in without incident.

He is now facing three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say additional charges could be filed.
