Suspect taken into custody after police pursuit ending in crash on far southeast side, SAPD says

A driver was apprehended after a chase involving a stolen vehicle that ended in a crash on the far southeast side, according to police.

SAN ANTONIO — A driver was taken into custody Thursday morning after allegedly leading officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle before crashing and fleeing on foot, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

SAPD said officers observed a vehicle involved in a crash in the area and approached to check on the driver’s condition.

Police said the driver suddenly fled the scene and, while attempting to get away, reversed into another vehicle. The impact caused non-life threatening injuries to the other driver, according to police.

Officers followed the suspect’s vehicle until it crashed again near the 6000 block of Foster Trail Drive, SAPD said. The driver then ran from the scene but was apprehended a short time later.

Police said it is unclear how far the pursuit extended. The investigation remains ongoing.
