Teen injured in drive-by shooting on west side, police say

Officers say the 17-year-old was shot by someone in a passing vehicle.

SAN ANTONIO — A teenager is recovering after being shot in what police believe was a drive-by shooting on San Antonio’s west side.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 8:05 p.m. Friday to the 100 block of Obregon Street near Frio City Road, for reports of a shooting in progress.

Investigators say a 17-year-old told officers he was heading to a location when a black vehicle drove by and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the upper left arm.

Police say when officers arrived, they were unable to locate a crime scene or find any witnesses who saw or heard the shooting.

The teen was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the case remains under active investigation, and details could change as detectives work to learn more.
