Early morning fire sparks concern on northeast side, no injuries reported

Crews quickly put out a small fire behind a home as investigators look into a possible electrical cause.

SAN ANTONIO — A quiet northeast side neighborhood got an early wake-up call Saturday morning after a house fire broke out near Loop 410.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department, crews were called around 3:25 a.m. to the 8600 block of Norwich Drive, near Harry Wurzbach Road, for reports of a structure fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a small exterior fire burning at the rear of the home.

Crews were able to quickly knock down the flames and then checked the house to make sure the fire hadn’t spread inside.

Officials say no injuries were reported.

Investigators believe the fire may have been caused by an electrical issue, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

Authorities say the damage to the home was minor.

San Antonio Police Department, EMS and fire investigators also responded to the scene.
