Texas State Aquarium guests bid Scuba St. Nick farewell until next year

The 20-year tradition is beloved by many in the Coastal Bend.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Saturday was the final day of a very unique Christmas tradition over at the Texas State Aquarium.

Scuba St. Nick took his last dive into the aquarium’s water exhibit this season, and we are sure it was a nice change from the snow he leaves behind in the North Pole.

You could see Santa swimming along with his elf and some sharks they made friends with while posing for pictures with families there.

3News spoke with diver Abby about the 20-year tradition that everyone gets excited for when the holiday season approaches.

“It’s a lot of fun I think on both ends – for the divers, for all of the guests who come to participate in it. Because when we’re in the exhibits we’re really only in here for maintenance so just being able to take 30 minutes out of the dive to just pose with the kids and families, couples and friends it’s a lot of fun and you get to see how excited everybody gets. I think it’s a really good tradition that helps keep the Christmas spirit alive.”
