Texas will not lose ‘World’s Largest’ Buc-ee’s to Florida after all

Everything is bigger in Texas, so, obviously, the “World’s Largest” Buc-ee’s belongs in the Lone Star State. That title was stripped away in 2023 by another Southern state, but the “Largest” title is on its way back to Texas and the company confirmed the title will not leave the state despite another rival store in the works.

Gill noted the next step for the Florida location is to get reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission on July 18.

Those worried about the “Largest” title leaving the Lone Star State don’t have to fret again. Buc-ee’s confirmed to MySA that no location outside of Texas will exceed 74,000 square-feet. Meaning, Texas will take the title back as Buc-ee’s prepares the newly renovated Luling location to open on Monday, June 10, according to a MySA report. The Luling travel center will span over 75,000 square-feet.

For years, the New Braunfels Buc-ee’s location claimed the crown of the “Largest” moniker, but that was until the Sevierville, Tennessee Buc-ee’s opened in 2023 covering around 74,707 square-feet. Now Luling will bring the title back to Texas.

Buc-ee’s website shares the estimated opening dates of five new locations: Smiths Grove, Kentucky in 2024, Amarillo and Brunswick, Georgia in 2025, and Rockingham County, Virginia and the long-awaited Boerne store in 2026.
