SAN ANTONIO — A documented gang member who made Texas’ Top 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list was arrested earlier this month in San Antonio after authorities say he failed to register as a sex offender.
According to officials, 36-year-old Andrew Anthony Lopez was taken into custody on May 6 at an apartment complex in San Antonio following a months-long manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Investigators said Lopez had been wanted since February after failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
Records show Lopez was convicted in 2013 of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Bexar County and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Authorities also identified him as a documented Tango Orejon gang member with a prior burglary conviction.
Officials said Lopez’s arrest was not the result of a Crime Stoppers tip, meaning no reward money will be paid out in the case.
