Two teen suspects arrested in possible revenge shooting that left one man dead

Police say the suspects opened fire on a man in March, killing him as he tried to run away.

SAN ANTONIO — Two suspects are now in custody in connection with a deadly shooting at a San Antonio apartment complex earlier this year.

According to arrest warrants filed in Bexar County, Tayvarie Brunson and Jaylon Barnes are each charged with murder in the death of 24-year-old Justice Xavier Hansel Lee.

Investigators with the San Antonio Police Department say the shooting happened March 8 at the Cable Ranch Apartments on Waters Edge.

Police say Lee had gone to visit someone at the apartment when the two suspects allegedly showed up armed and opened fire.

Authorities say Lee returned fire but was shot and killed as he tried to run toward the parking lot.

During the exchange, another person — believed to be a relative of one of the suspects — was also wounded and taken to the hospital.

Detectives say the shooting may have been fueled by retaliation tied to a 2024 robbery involving Lee and a family member of the suspects.

Investigators later recovered firearms from a nearby apartment, and forensic testing linked those weapons to shell casings found at the scene.

Video evidence also allegedly shows both suspects near the apartment with firearms around the time of the shooting.

Both are now charged with first-degree felony murder charges.
