Upscale grocery store and market opens at the Pearl Brewery

Previously, residents and visitors to the Pearl Brewery area would have to drive ten or more minutes to the nearest grocery store or H-E-B.

SAN ANTONIO — A massive, upscale grocery store is coming to the historic Pearl Brewery in the Spring of 2024, organizers said.

Pullman Market will be a sprawling 40,000 square foot “culinary experience” with four restaurants, quick, casual concepts, an artisan butcher, a fish market, and seasonal bakery, among other features, according to a news release from Emmer & Rye Hospitality group.

Previously, residents and visitors to the Pearl Brewery area would have to drive ten or more minutes to the nearest grocery store or H-E-B. A market like this is expected to be a game-changer. Organizers say they will have a focus on local and Texas produce and products.

Pearl representatives say it is a long-time coming for people in that area.

“Pullman Market is a wonderful complement to the vibrant culinary, retail, and cultural landscape that defines Pearl today,” said Mesha Milsap, Pearl CEO. “The success of our Pearl Farmers Market the past 14 years shows that our neighborhood supports local farmers, chefs, and food enthusiasts. With Pullman Market, we are excited to provide a space where residents and guests can connect to these experiences daily, in addition to our weekend Farmers Market.”

The four restaurants include Fife & Farro, featuring homemade pizza and pasta; Mezquite, a restaurant and mezcal bar focusing on the cuisine of Sonora, Mexico; Isidore, an elevated dining experience where reservations will be required and the menu will change regularly; and Nicosi, created by  Pastry Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph, will be an intimate dessert bar with 18 seats and a no-phone policy.

In addition to the restaurants, the grocery store will include casual to-go items such as burgers, ice cream, tacos, sandwiches, ceviche, coffee and more.
