Affordable transit options aim to make traveling to Fiesta events easier across San Antonio.
SAN ANTONIO — As Fiesta ramps up across San Antonio, getting to the celebration just got a little easier.
VIA Metropolitan Transit is offering Park & Ride service to help residents and visitors travel to and from major Fiesta events without the hassle of downtown traffic and parking.
Riders can park at designated locations and take a bus directly to the festivities for just $1.30 each way. Discounts are available for students, seniors and active-duty military, while children under 5 and VIAtrans customers ride free.
VIA officials say passengers can now pay with credit cards or mobile wallets when boarding, or pre-purchase fares through the goMobile app for faster service.
Regular VIA bus passes and U-Passes are also accepted, and VIAtrans service will be available for registered riders following normal reservation policies.
For those planning ahead, customers can also use regular bus routes and the agency’s online trip planner to get to Fiesta events.
Riders are reminded that food is not allowed on buses and drinks must be in spill-proof containers.
