The viral pup who accurately predicted the outcome of the Western Conference Finals and picked the Spurs to win the Finals, paid a visit to San Antonio to meet fans.
SAN ANTONIO — As Game 1 of the NBA Finals tipped off Wednesday night, Spurs fans packed Indy Coffee Club for coffee, selfies and a glimpse of a viral corgi that has become an unlikely good-luck charm for the team.
The dog, known online as “Steph Curry the Air Corgi,” has gained a large following for correctly predicting every Spurs win during the Western Conference finals. The corgi, whose real name is Lilo, drew a line of fans eager to see her prediction for the Finals opener against the New York Knicks.
The energy hit before the coffee was even served, with a crowd wrapped around the building ahead of the game.
The corgi’s handler said the response from fans has been overwhelming.
“Just to see all the corgi people and all the fans just come up and say how much it meant to them for the corgi to pick them — it’s just crazy,” she said.
Fans interviewed at the coffee shop said they trust the corgi’s track record and believe her latest prediction favors San Antonio. The corgi is calling the Spurs to win Game 1 and take the series in seven games.
