Woman killed in accident with tractor-trailer on I-37 on the south side

The southbound lanes of I-37 closed at Highway 97 due to the accident Wednesday. Officials say the closure could last until 5 p.m.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman has died in an accident between an 18-wheeler and a Honda Wednesday morning, the Department of Public Safety said.

The accident was reported at I-37 and Highway 97 on the south side of San Antonio around 10:30 a.m.

Officials say the driver of a Honda Fit was going south on the I-37 frontage road and went through a stop light. The car hit a tractor-trailer and the driver, a 58-year-old woman, died at the scene.

The victim has not yet been identified.

All southbound lanes of I-37 were closed to investigate and clear the accident.  Traffic is being diverted to FM 3006 until lanes are reopened.
