71-year-old man killed after getting hit by UPS delivery truck near Comal County, officials say

Officials said the crash remains under investigation.

SCHERTZ, Texas — A man was killed after an accident involving a UPS delivery truck in an area near Garden Ridge Monday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

Officials said DPS troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on FM 3009 near Ponderosa Way around 8:30 a.m. 

According to preliminary reports, a UPS delivery truck traveling northbound crossed the center line and struck a silver Lexus SUV. The driver of the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as 71-year-old Thomas Carter of New Braunfels. 

Following the crash, UPS Global Communications released the following statement: 

“We are aware of a traffic accident involving one of our drivers and another vehicle that resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts are with the individual’s loved ones during this difficult time. We’re fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation and refer any additional questions to them.”

Officials said the crash remains under investigation and no other information was provided.
