SAN ANTONIO — An 80-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by a dog at her home on San Antonio’s west side.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the incident happened Thursday in the 8900 block of Arch Bridge when the woman stepped into her backyard while being visited by family members.
Investigators say a man visiting the home had brought a pit bull with him. Police say the dog suddenly attacked the woman, biting her on the face near her eye.
Family members were able to stop the attack, and the victim was taken to University Hospital for treatment.
Authorities say the dog’s owner left the scene with the animal, and officers have not been able to locate him.
Police say the woman sustained serious facial injuries but is expected to recover.
Investigators have confirmed the dog is connected to a separate report of a child bitten in the same neighborhood days earlier. The dog is now in ACS custody.
At this time, officials say no charges have been filed.
