Pride Month festivities kick off in San Antonio with 5th Annual Pride River Parades & Celebration

The Pride river parade kicks off Pride Month festivities in San Antonio this weekend with themed floats and live entertainment on the River Walk.

SAN ANTONIO — The fifth annual Pride River Parades and Celebration is set to launch Pride Month festivities on Saturday along the San Antonio River Walk.

This year’s theme is “San Antonio Welcomes All,” and organizers say the event will feature a wide variety of decorated barges, including Fiesta-inspired displays, Day of the Dead themes, Diwali designs and even a float inspired by North Star Mall’s iconic cowboy boots.

San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones will serve as civic grand marshal for the celebration, which includes 18 decorated barges along with live entertainment and other festivities, according to Visit San Antonio.

Roslyn Castaneda, director of River Walk operations for Visit San Antonio, said the event carries a strong sense of community energy.

“There’s some extra heart and celebration to this parade. It really feels so welcoming,” Castaneda said.

Two parades are scheduled for Saturday, with the first beginning at 5 p.m. and a second set for 7:30 p.m.

Organizers encourage attendees to visit the website here for additional event information.
