SAN ANTONIO — The University of Texas at San Antonio announced Thursday afternoon that Canvas was down university-wide as part of a broader nationwide outage impacting colleges across the country.
Officials said students and staff were advised to avoid using the system while university teams monitored the issue and worked toward a resolution.
By late Thursday night, Instructure, the company that operates the Canvas learning management system, said most users should be able to access the platform.
UTSA provided an update Friday, confirming that Canvas is now operational. However, officials are asking users to clear their browser cache and cookies before logging in.
Due to the outage, finals originally scheduled through Friday were impacted. UTSA officials said exams planned for Friday will now be moved to next Thursday.

University officials previously emphasized that the unexpected disruption would not negatively affect students’ final assignments or grades. They also confirmed that commencement ceremonies scheduled for next week will proceed as planned.
Faculty members with exams originally set for Thursday and Friday are expected to receive additional guidance from their colleges and academic leadership regarding next steps.
Students and faculty with coursework scheduled beyond Friday are asked to continue monitoring their university email for further updates.
