Cowboys games, new truck, spa days | How a San Antonio woman sentenced for wire fraud flaunted her luxury lifestyle

A San Antonio woman has been sentenced to over four years in prison after admitting to embezzling $759,235 while serving as a comptroller, U.S. Attorneys report.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio woman has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after spending hundreds of thousands of dollars she got through wire fraud, US Attorneys say.

Court documents say Daniella Vasquez, 48, flaunted a luxury lifestyle while working as comptroller for two separate companies between May 2021 and September 2022, where her responsibilities included issuing payments. While working for both companies, she embezzled $759,235.74 by issuing unauthorized payments to herself and her husband, Thomas Vasquez.

She was arrested on Oct. 25, 2022, by the Shavano Park Police Department on state charges related to one of the companies. The FBI later got involved and eventually in 2024, she was federally indicted on four counts of wire fraud. She pleaded guilty on one count in 2025.

U.S. Attorneys say she spent much of the embezzled money on luxury goods, vehicles, concerts and sporting events, which she showed off on social media.

“Vasquez abused her employers’ trust to live the high life, spending thousands of dollars to attend pop concerts and NFL games while wearing expensive luxury items and even rewarding herself with a $1,500 upscale spa experience,” said U.S. Attorney Simmons.

Investigators say Vasquez spent thousands of dollars on sports tickets, including to the Dallas Cowboys.

Vasquez also posted a photo of her new pickup truck on social media and stated how “#blessed” and “#grateful” she was to be able to buy it. Bank statements show she placed an $8,000 down payment for the truck. That was in the same week she spent thousands of dollars on jewelry and at an upscale spa.

Vasquez was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison.
