Festival de Animales brings Fiesta flair to San Antonio Zoo

Mariachi, folklórico, music and animals combine for a wild two-day Fiesta celebration.

SAN ANTONIO — Fiesta is going full animal mode.

San Antonio Zoo is bringing back its colorful Festival de Animales on April 25 and 26, turning the zoo into a two-day party packed with music, dancing, culture and plenty of creatures who were already dressed for the occasion.

The family-friendly Fiesta celebration runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days and is included with zoo admission. Members get in free, and parking in the zoo garage is also free.

Guests can enjoy live performances throughout the grounds, including mariachi from Mi Mexico Mariachi, folklórico by Folklorico De Bendiciones, DJ sets from DJ Mayhem, and live music from Trio Ardente.

There will also be story time, craft stations, roaming Catrinas and enough Fiesta energy to make even the flamingos feel competitive.

The zoo says visitors can expect a celebration of animals, culture and community—with lions, tigers and probably someone yelling “Viva Fiesta!”

Tickets and details are available through the San Antonio Zoo website.
