BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — IMPACT DAYS: Friday & Saturday, June 5 & 6

Reason: Threat of severe weather including thunderstorms producing heavy rain and localized flooding across the area.

The breakdown

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Central Bexar County in effect until 8:15 a.m. as storms roll through the region.

Thunderstorms are expected to produce heavy rainfall, creating a threat of localized flash flooding impacting creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

There is a considerable threat of flash flooding in parts of San Antonio including near the San Antonio International Airport, Leon Valley, Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Shavano Park, Olmos Park, Castle Hills and Balcones Heights.

According to NWS, between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen as of 6:30 a.m. Friday morning. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.

The threat of flash flooding is considered life-threatening. Residents and drivers are urged to take precaution.

Move to higher ground. Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads.
