Goodwill opens new Rittiman Road store bringing jobs to Northeast Side

The new location will create 26 jobs and help fund free workforce training programs.

SAN ANTONIO — A former Walgreens on San Antonio’s northeast side is getting a second life — this time with a mission focused on jobs, donations and community support.

Goodwill San Antonio is opening a new 13,282-square-foot retail store and donation center at 6363 Rittiman Road on Wednesday.

The new location is expected to create 26 jobs while expanding access to affordable shopping and workforce services in the area.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled from 9:30 to 10 a.m., with the store opening to the public immediately afterward.

Goodwill leaders say revenue from donated goods sold at the store helps fund career training, job placement services and programs through Goodwill Academy & Career Services — all offered at no cost to the community.

Officials say the new store is part of the organization’s broader mission of “changing lives through the power of work.”

Carlos J. Contreras III, president and CEO of Goodwill San Antonio, along with Board Chair Eddy Salas, are expected to attend the grand opening celebration.
