H-E-B giving away 276,000 free reusable bags for Earth Day

Customers across Texas can grab a complimentary bag Wednesday morning while supplies last.

TEXAS, USA — If you’re heading to the store Wednesday, you may leave with groceries and a free reusable bag.

H-E-B announced it will give away 276,000 free reusable bags across Texas as part of its annual Earth Day celebration.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on April 22, customers visiting any H-E-B, Central Market, Joe V’s Smart Shop or Mi Tienda location in Texas can receive a complimentary Earth Day bag while supplies last.

Since launching the tradition in 2008, H-E-B says it has distributed more than 3.4 million reusable bags.

The company says the giveaway is part of its broader environmental efforts through the Our Texas, Our Future initiative, which supports litter cleanup and waste reduction projects statewide.

H-E-B also highlighted its Annual School Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge, where 816 Texas schools collected more than 8.4 million plastic bags this year—breaking last year’s record.

So yes, Wednesday might be the easiest time all week to remember your reusable bag.
