At approximately 2:50 a.m. a Live Oak police officer noticed a suspicious 2016 Kia Soul in a city park during closed hours.

SAN ANTONIO — A Live Oak police officer was involved in a shooting after witnessing a stolen vehicle in a city park early Thursday morning.

At approximately 2:50 a.m. a Live Oak police officer noticed a suspicious 2016 Kia Soul in a city park during closed hours.

According to officials, the suspects fled when the officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

The suspects ignored the emergency lights and sirens and continued fleeing into a nearby cul-de-sac. The officer got out of the car and the suspects then attempted to strike the officer with the vehicle, police say.

The officer fired his weapon in response but the suspect continued fleeing and eventually came to a stop on Standing Oaks St. near Sandpiper Dr., according to officials.

The driver of the vehicle was treated for a gunshot wound and the passenger was treated for minor injuries.

Police also recovered a handgun. Both occupants in the vehicle were minors and the Kia Soul was stolen, police said.
