Man accused of sexually assaulting 15-year-old girl at ‘Cinco de Mayo’ party in northeast Bexar County

Morua also has a criminal history including three DWI’s and assault family violence from 2023, according to BCSO.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is accused of sexually assaulting a teen girl at a house party Wednesday night, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

BCSO announced Thursday afternoon that Alejandro Morua, 31, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. The department previously posted on social media that they were looking for Morua.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said Morua attended a “Cinco de Mayo” party at a friend’s house on the northeast side of Bexar County where he spent time with a 15-year-old girl, whom he knew. The sheriff said he couldn’t elaborate further on how the suspect and victim knew each other.

While at the party Morua gave the teen girl alcohol throughout the evening until she went inside the home and he followed her. Morua followed her into a room where he sexually assaulted her. After the assault, the teen told Morua she was going to tell the authorities he assaulted her, according to BCSO.

Salazar said the girl informed a relative that she had been assaulted at the party and the authorities were called around 8 p.m. Morua and his brother then fled the party before deputies arrived.

According to BCSO, despite Morua being a U.S. citizen, authorities were informed that he had direct ties to Mexico and was planning to flee across the border. BCSO was able to contact Morua’s brother, which helped deputies locate Morua and convince him to come in for questioning, which ultimately lead to his prompt arrest.

“We’re certainly hoping for the best outcome for the young victim and the family as they try to help her get her life back together,” Salazar said.

Morua also has a criminal history including three DWI’s and assault family violence from 2023, according to BCSO.

Salazar mentioned how the department has seen more predators arrested in recent weeks and said he hopes parents are diligent about who their children are around even family friends.

“We have to be ultra careful on who are kids are with. Just because you know somebody well enough to be at one of your parties or vice versa doesn’t mean you know them well enough to have them be alone around your child,” Salazar said. “Predators come in all shapes and sizes and they don’t always look like a predator.”

Salazar said Morua’s brother is currently being considered a witness but investigators plan to talk to him further.

Morua will be booked in the Bexar County jail.
