SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police took a 19-year-old man into custody on unspecified charges around 10:45 p.m. Friday, ending a west-side standoff nearly eight hours after it began with an assault call.
The unidentified 19-year-old suspect was inside his Westoak Road residence most of Friday afternoon and evening with his 9-month-old baby, according to San Antonio Police Department Lt. Michelle Ramos. His 1-year-old was able to exit the home safely earlier.
“If it takes all night, we’re going to be here all night,” Ramos previously said.
She said the suspect was believed to have two knives with him, adding he allegedly assaulted his mother before police arrived.
A SWAT unit and hostage negotiators were on scene for several hours before the man was arrested.
