Man killed while walking along sidewalk in New Braunfels, officials say

A man was fatally struck by a flatbed truck on a New Braunfels sidewalk, officials report. The driver stayed to assist and is not facing charges.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was hit and killed while walking along a sidewalk in New Braunfels Friday morning, officials said. 

The city of New Braunfels said in a news release that a 30-year-old man was on the sidewalk of the frontage road of I-35 North, just south of Loop 337/Highway 46 at around 8:30 a.m.

The man was then struck by a flatbed truck leaving a business and turning onto the frontage road. The man died from his injuries, officials said. 

The driver of the truck, a 43-year-old man, was not injured in the accident. Officials say he remained on scene to provide assistance and is not facing any charges. 

The accident took about three hours to clear after a full traffic reconstruction investigation.
