Man shot by gunman who broke into his motel room on the northeast side, police say

A man in his 30s is in critical condition after being shot at a motel, with witnesses reporting a dark SUV fleeing the scene, police said.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot in the chest after a gunman broke inoto his motel room on the northeast side, police say. 

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday night at the Hallmark Suites and Inn on I-35, just north of Rittiman Road.

The man, who is in his 30s, told police someone entered his hotel room and robbed him at gunpoint before shooting him in the chest. He was taken to the hospital in critical conditions.

 Witnesses told police they saw a dark-colored SUV take off after the shooting. Police have not made any arrests. 

No arrests have yet been made and this shooting is still under investigation.
